Rain Water to Drinking Water

Rain Water Convert to Drinking Water

You can absolutely make rainwater drinkable at home using sand, carbon, and UV filtration. This is often called a multi-stage rainwater purification system. Here is how it works step by step:

Rainwater Purification System

1. Pre-filtration (Before Sand & Carbon)

  • First flush system: The very first rain carries dust, bird droppings, and debris from the roof. A diverter (first flush) should send this away.
  • Mesh filter / leaf screen: Stops leaves, twigs, and larger particles before water enters the tank.

2. Sand Filter (Sediment Filtration)

  • A slow sand filter or a pressure sand filter is installed after the storage tank.
  • Sand traps suspended solids, dirt, rust, and fine particles.
  • Layers of gravel at the bottom + fine sand at the top create natural filtration.
  • Needs periodic backwashing or replacement.

3. Activated Carbon Filter

  • Removes bad Odor, colour, chlorine, pesticides, and organic impurities.
  • Carbon adsorption improves taste and removes chemical pollutants that sand cannot catch.
  • Works best after sand filter (so it does not clog quickly).

4. UV Sterilization (Disinfection)

  • UV light chamber exposes water to ultraviolet rays.
  • This kills bacteria, viruses, and pathogens without adding chemicals.
  • Works only if water is already clear (sand + carbon ensure clarity).

5. Optional Final Polishing

  • A fine micron cartridge filter (5µ or 1µ) can be added before UV to catch very fine particles.

Flow of System in House

  • Roof → Leaf guard → First flush diverter
  • Storage tank (covered, mosquito proof)
  • Sand filter → Carbon filter → Cartridge filter
  • UV purifier → Kitchen tap (drinking water outlet)

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean roof & gutters regularly.
  • Replace sand every 2–3 years, carbon every 1–2 Years.
  • UV lamp needs yearly replacement to stay effective.
  • Storage tank must be sealed from insects, and cleaned at least once a year

Rainwater Is Pure, Free, and Now—Perfectly Safe

Make Every Drop Count

Rainwater is a naturally clean and renewable source of water. With the Drop2Drink Unit, you can transform rainwater into 100% microbiologically safe drinking water — right at your home, business, or facility.

This intelligent purification system combines advanced microfiltration, activated carbon filtration, membrane filtration (UF), and UV sterilization — all in a single, compact process.

Advanced Self-Monitoring System

The Drop2Drink’s self-cleaning membrane filter continuously monitors its own performance to ensure long-term reliability and purity. In addition, the UV disinfection unit provides an extra layer of microbiological protection, guaranteeing double security for your water supply.

Simple, Smart, and Sustainable Setup

Setting up a rainwater purification system with the Drop2Drink unit is simple:

  • Collect rainwater in a storage tank with a pre-filter.
  • Pump the water with an integrated high-performance pump to maintain pressure.
  • Purify — as the water enters the Drop2Drink unit, it’s instantly treated and made safe for consumption.
